Recology is an Employee Owned Company

Collection Worker/Employee OwnerIn 1986, Recology employees bought the corporation through an Employee Stock Ownership Plan (ESOP). As an owner, each worker shares in Recology's success. That direct relationship fuels very strong concern for customer satisfaction, and means employees constantly look for efficiencies.

Employee-owners at Recology companies take tremendous pride in their work. Go to any Recology company and within minutes you will find people who take extra steps to do a better job. Examples include: taking extra care to operate safely, treating customers with respect by addressing their specific needs, working as efficiently as possible, and finding ways to save the company money and increase revenue.

Recology has also worked hard to help employees understand the value of how employee ownership can serve as a vehicle to turn hard work completed today into future financial benefits. Senior management leads the corporate communication effort by conducting "Employee Owners Road Show Meetings" each February to update employee owners throughout the company on issues affecting Recology's business and its ESOP. Two-way communication is emphasized at each meeting, with managers encouraging employees to ask questions and share ideas. Annual ESOP account statements are also provided to employee owners at the time of these meetings.

The mission of The ESOP Association is to advocate the growth of employee ownership and to educate its members and the American public about ESOPs. More details about The ESOP Association can be found at their web site at www.esopassociation.org.
